Twelve Years Ago

I am back! My goodness, I feel like I have been gone forever! A big shout out to Angela, Sami and Laura for taking over last week while I was off on a little camping vacay! Thank you to all my friends that welcomed these ladies with open arms!

Now back to the regular scheduled program.  

Yesterday was our wedding anniversary. Our 12th one to be exact. Yes, I said 12th. The photo below somewhat dates us. Don't you think?  I mean, check out the curled up-do, pearl tiara and the daisy bouquet with tons of baby's breath. This was the style "back then", so I thought. Just look at us, we were babies!

That year was such a whirlwind, I graduated from college in May, turned 22 years old, left my university life, got married in July, rented our first home and started my career. Talk about some major life changes all taking place within a few months. I grew up pretty fast and take pride in accomplishing so much at such a young age.

So, in case you don't follow along on Instagram (@becauseshannasaidso), I wanted to share a few pictures from our anniversary weekend.  All the credit goes to Ross. He planned our entire weekend and it was all a surprise. I had absolutely no idea what we were doing or where we were going. Am I a lucky lady or what?

Surprise #1 - Kayaking on the Lake

Surprise #2 - Full fledged Mexican lunch at one of my most favorite places to grub.

Surprise #3 - A trip to Kendra Scott

Surprise #4 - Overnight stay at the cutest bed and breakfast right on the river in Gruene, Texas.

Surprise #5 - Tickets to see Wade Bowen at an outdoor venue. Texas Country at it's finest. I was blown away by this one.

At the concert. Wish it weren't so fuzzy, but you can see by our smiles that we were having a GREAT time!

I know I have already told him a hundred times, but I wanted to say it again, Ross, thank you for a weekend that I will never forget. Your love, thoughtfulness, strength and genuinely kind heart takes my breath away every day. You are a role model for every man, husband and father out there. Thank you for putting up with all my shenanigans and loving me unconditionally! I can't wait to see what the next 12 years has in store!
